“Heal Thy Bussiness ~ Heal The World”
In Series 1 of this RegeniThrive Report, I introduced the foundational idea that Nature belongs in the center of every boardroom. Not as decoration, and certainly not as a green washing badge, yet as the primary strategic partner in company culture and at the root of every business decision.
You read about how companies that align with Natural Law outperform those that don’t, and why the next era of business belongs to those who align with those proven principles. Now, in Series 2, we dig deeper. We go elemental. My goal is to always provide value, so for each elemental category, I’m sharing three benefits with you.
I’ve already been told that this one article is an entire ebook, so that may happen next.
Nature has been thriving, self-sustaining, abundant systems for billions of years without a single board meeting. She doesn’t waste. She doesn’t extract. She regenerates constantly and consistently. And the system she does it through are the five governing elements of creation: Earth, Fire, Air, Water, and Ether.
Welcome to the geek zone of my Nature programmed brain. The RegeniThrive Elemental Formula is a regenerative systems model born from decades of studying Indigenous Earth wisdom and Nature’s own mathematical design mastery, biomimicry. Each element corresponds to a category of human experience and industry. Each one, when applied to your business, yields measurable benefits for three non-negotiable stakeholders: your people, your planet, and your profit. This is the triple-P bottom line! Yes that’s right, the old-school buzzword has evolved into a living formula for regenerative business.
Here are five practical, proven, and powerfully profitable ways to bring Mother Nature into your boardroom. One element at a time.
EARTH: Nourish Your People. Steward Your Soil. Build Better
The Earth element governs what we eat, what we build, and how we treat the ground beneath our feet. Soil is not dirt. It is a living ecosystem that, when healthy, produces nutritionally dense food capable of transforming the health of every person who eats it. And when we build from Earth rather than against it, we create spaces that are healthier, safer, and more economically resilient than anything conventional construction can offer.
Solution: Nutritional Density in the Workplace + Regenerative Building Materials
When my corporate wellness company, Natural Living Source, was consulting for big tech companies in California, we used to advise upon and install edible gardens on site of the corporate campuses. It became a novelty landscape for break-time walks, yet snacking on cherry tomatoes and kale leaves was not enough and we were soon asked to create on-site farmers markets and wellness fair days to keep up with the demand of natural wellness from employees. That provided what they asked for, but only two days a month.
Let’s fast forward twenty years to the technology we have now! Innovations in hot-meal vending machines allow us to have farm fresh, healthy food available in all offices and for all shifts.
Regenerative agriculture is the practice of farming in ways that restore soil health rather than deplete it. Soil teeming with microbial life produces food with dramatically higher levels of minerals, vitamins, and phytonutrients than conventionally grown produce. When you source your office catering, canteen meals, and staff food programs from regenerative farms, or better yet, install a healthy meal vending machine on your premises, you are making one of the highest-return investments in human capital available.
On the building side, the materials your workspace is made from are not neutral. Conventional construction materials off-gas volatile organic compounds (VOCs), trap moisture, breed mold, and require enormous energy to produce. Natural building materials (hempcrete, bamboo, rammed earth, straw bale, and mycelium composites) do the opposite. They breathe, regulate humidity, sequester carbon, and create indoor environments that actively support cognitive function and wellbeing. (For more on building materials, read RegeniThrive Report series: “How to Save Our Trees” at AnnaNaturalista.com/blog/)
Off-gassing from indoor paint, carpets and furniture all contribute carcinogens to the air, which is known to effect cognition. By simply upgrading your walls with natural paints (food-grade is best) and increase natural air flow or adding the right potted plants, you can quickly improve the environmental health of your office spaces.
Regenerative Benefits
People: Staff who eat nutrient-dense food and work in healthy buildings report lower rates of illness, higher energy, sharper focus, and greater job satisfaction. One study found that poor indoor air quality alone reduces cognitive performance by up to 50%.
Planet: Regenerative agriculture rebuilds topsoil, sequesters carbon, uses less water, restores biodiversity, and eliminates toxic chemical runoff into waterways. Natural building materials are carbon-negative, biodegradable, and reduce construction’s enormous planetary footprint.
Profit: Healthy employees reduce costs in healthcare, absenteeism, and turnover. Green building certifications (LEED, BREEAM, WELL) increase property values by 7–17%. Regenerative sourcing opens access to impact investment capital, tax incentives, and grant funding for sustainable agriculture and green construction. Stacking these financial tools is my personal specialty, more on that in the Ether element.
FIRE: Move Like the Ancients. Power Like the Future.
Fire is life force. It is the energy that powers our bodies and our buildings, our metabolism and our manufacturing. The Fire element in business asks two questions: how are your people generating and maintaining their own energy, and how is your company sourcing and using the energy it runs on?
Solution: Movement Culture +
Renewable Energy Solutions
Our ancestors did not have gym memberships because they did not need them. Their daily lives were the workout. They squatted, walked, carried, climbed, danced, and labored in ways that modern sedentary work culture has all but eliminated. The result? Our bodies are underpowered, our stress hormones are chronically elevated, and our workforce is burning out from the inside while sitting completely still most of the day, not good. So let’s fix that.
Bringing primal-inspired movement into your company culture doesn’t require a fitness center budget. All it requires is your intention and action:
* Walking meetings
* Squatting snack time
* Midday movement breaks
* Standing desks (treadmill optional)
* Pop up stretching sessions throughout the day
These are not wellness perks. They are key performance movements that both ancient and modern scientists have proven is the key to optimal cognitive, physical and emotional function. Bottom line, we are made to move!
On the electrical side, the regenerative business of tomorrow is already powering itself differently. Advanced solar, hydrogen, geothermal, and waste-to-energy systems are no longer expensive alternatives to conventional power, they are rapidly becoming the economically superior choice. The RegeniThrive network works with the most innovative clean energy solutions deployed globally, and this pipeline only flows with extraordinary innovations. Stay tuned for the RegeniThrive Report series dedicated entirely to the options now available to communities, businesses and aligned nations.
People: Movement breaks reduce cortisol, improve circulation, boost creative thinking, and dramatically reduce the musculoskeletal pain that costs companies billions annually in workers’ compensation and lost productivity.
Planet: Renewable energy systems eliminate or dramatically improve a companies self sufficiency. Waste-to-energy technologies turn pollutants into power, reducing landfill pressure and cleaning communities.
Profit: Companies that shift to renewable energy see significant reductions in operational energy costs within 2–5 years (depending on size of structures and type of system). Many qualify for federal and state Investment Tax Credits (ITC), accelerated depreciation, and utility rebates. A movement-healthy culture reduces healthcare premiums and dramatically lowers turnover cost, which averages 1.5–2x an employee’s annual salary to replace.
AIR: Breathe Clean. Communicate Freely.
Lead with Clarity.
Air is both breath and signal. It is the invisible element that governs the health of our lungs, the quality of our thoughts, and the integrity of our communication. In the Nature boardroom, the Air element addresses two parallel crises: the degraded quality of the air our people breathe, and the compromised quality of the information ecosystems our businesses operate within.
Solution: Conscious Communication Culture +
Air Purification & Secure Comms Technology
The average office building’s indoor air is measurably more polluted than outdoor air. As I touched on before, off-gassing from synthetic carpets, furniture, paints, and cleaning products combines with poor ventilation to create environments that suppress immune function, trigger headaches, and reduce oxygen delivery to the brain. Plants are part of the solution; living walls and biophilic design have been shown to improve air quality and reduce stress simultaneously. Advanced air purification systems take it further, removing particulates, mold spores, VOCs, and pathogens to create truly clean breathing environments.
But clean air in business is not only physical. It is informational. The way information flows through an organization determines its health just as surely as the air through its ventilation system. Conscious communication practices; radical transparency, active listening, nonviolent communication frameworks rooted in Indigenous council traditions, create organizational cultures that are psychologically safe, creatively inspiring, and strategically agile.
For companies operating in sensitive industries or handling proprietary data, the Air element also encompasses sovereign communication technology: peer-to-peer networks, encrypted data centers, and private communication systems that ensure freedom of information flow and protection from surveillance. This is no longer a fringe concern. It is a frontline business necessity that’s quickly becoming important every day.
People: Clean indoor air has been shown to improve cognitive scores by 26%. Conscious communication reduces conflict, accelerates decision-making, and builds the psychological safety that drives innovation. Secure comms protect from data breaches and reputational harm.
Planet: Advanced air purification systems installed in offices can be extended to manufacturing environments and community spaces, contributing to cleaner local air quality. Biophilic office design (living walls, natural ventilation, urban greenery) contributes to urban reforestation and carbon absorption.
Profit: Air purification systems qualify for WELL Building certification incentives and IRS Section 179D energy efficiency deductions. Reduced sick days from improved air quality directly reduce operational cost. Sovereign communication infrastructure protects against cyberattacks that cost U.S. businesses over $4.5 trillion annually.
WATER: Hydrate Your People. Purify Your World.
Before any business earns the right to talk about structured water hydration stations in the break room or conservation metrics in an ESG report, it must confront an uncomfortable truth: the greatest threat to clean water on Earth is not drought, not population growth, and not climate change alone. It is industrial negligence at scale.
Big Agriculture floods watersheds with synthetic fertilizers, herbicides, and pesticides; nitrogen and phosphorus runoff that creates oxygen-depleted dead zones in rivers, lakes, and coastal seas. Big Pharma’s manufacturing waste streams, combined with the systemic over-prescription of medications that pass through the human body and straight into municipal water systems, have introduced a pharmaceutical cocktail into drinking water supplies worldwide. The ultra-processed food industry contributes artificial dyes, petrochemical food colorings, preservatives, and industrial cleaning agents that conventional water treatment facilities were never designed to remove. The paint, coatings, and manufacturing sectors add heavy metals, solvents, and volatile organic compounds. Together, these industries have made clean water a precious privilege rather than a birthright, then created bottled water companies to profit on it, yet again. The buck stops here.
THE REGENERATIVE BOARDROOM TAKES THIS VERY SERIOUSLY.
Solution: Corporate Water Accountability, Remediation First. Then Purification
The first obligation of any corporation with a meaningful water footprint is remediation of its own output. This is not optional, and it is not charity. In a growing number of jurisdictions it is becoming law; and where it is not yet law, it is rapidly becoming the standard by which impact investors, ESG raters, and conscious consumers measure corporate credibility.
Effective corporate water stewardship begins with a full audit of every water output stream: manufacturing discharge, agricultural runoff, facility wastewater, chemical waste disposal, and supply chain water impacts. From that honest accounting, a remediation strategy is built. The technologies to do this exist today and are more accessible than most corporate boards realize. Advanced bioremediation systems use living organisms (bacteria, fungi, and plant root systems) to break down pharmaceutical compounds, heavy metals, and petrochemicals in industrial wastewater before it ever reaches a municipal system or natural waterway. Constructed wetlands, a biomimicry-based solution drawn directly from Nature’s own filtration design, can process industrial effluent at a fraction of the cost of conventional chemical treatment while simultaneously restoring biodiversity and creating carbon sinks on corporate land. Phytoremediation (the use of specific plant species to extract heavy metals and toxins from contaminated soil and water) is now deployed successfully at industrial sites worldwide. Electrocoagulation systems remove suspended solids, oils, and heavy metals from wastewater with extraordinary efficiency and minimal chemical input. (More on these in the full report.)
Once a company has taken responsibility for what leaves its facility, it turns its attention to what its people consume and what its land requires.
On the internal side, installing advanced multi-stage water purification systems; combining reverse osmosis, structured water technology, UV sterilization, and mineral remineralization, transforms tap water into genuinely bioavailable, health-supporting water for every employee, every day. This is not a luxury upgrade. Given the documented presence of pharmaceutical residues, microplastics, chlorine byproducts, and PFAS compounds in municipal water supplies across the United States and globally, it is a baseline duty of care to a workforce.
On the external side, corporate landscaping and facility grounds management represent a staggering and largely invisible water waste. The average corporate campus irrigates with treated municipal water, a costly absurdity. Replacing conventional irrigation with greywater recycling systems, rainwater harvesting infrastructure, and drought-adapted regenerative landscaping using native plants and food-bearing species reduces corporate water consumption dramatically while eliminating the chemical fertilizers and pesticides that currently flow from those manicured lawns directly into storm drains and groundwater.
People: Every employee who drinks clean, properly filtered water at work is being protected from a measurable and documented suite of health risks including hormonal disruption from pharmaceutical residues, neurological impacts from heavy metal exposure, and systemic inflammation from microplastic accumulation. Regenerative landscaping also eliminates worker and visitor exposure to the herbicides and pesticides that conventional groundskeeping applies routinely, many of which are classified as probable or confirmed carcinogens.
Planet: Corporate water remediation at scale is one of the highest-leverage environmental interventions available. A single large agricultural or pharmaceutical corporation cleaning up its output streams removes contaminants from watersheds that affect entire regional ecosystems and millions of downstream water users. Constructed wetlands and phytoremediation systems do not merely neutralize harm, they actively restore habitat, rebuild aquatic biodiversity, and sequester carbon. Native and regenerative corporate landscaping eliminates pesticide and fertilizer runoff entirely, reduces urban heat island effects, supports pollinator populations, and contributes to local reforestation. The planet does not need corporations to do less damage. She needs them to begin repairing the damage already done.
Profit: The financial case for corporate water accountability is no longer speculative. Water-related litigation, regulatory fines, and reputational damage cost corporations billions annually and the exposure is accelerating as water quality legislation tightens globally. Proactive investment in remediation systems and purification infrastructure consistently costs less than reactive legal and compliance costs. Water stewardship certifications (including the Alliance for Water Stewardship (AWS) Standard and CDP Water Security disclosure) are now active criteria in ESG scoring, directly affecting access to institutional capital and impact investment. Advanced wastewater treatment systems qualify for EPA Brownfields grants, Clean Water State Revolving Fund (CWSRF) low-interest loans, and in many states, significant tax incentives for industrial pollution reduction. Regenerative landscaping reduces municipal water bills by 30 to 60 percent on average. And in a market where consumers and investors increasingly make decisions based on verified environmental accountability, the corporation that leads on water remediation does not merely reduce its liability.. it builds one of the most defensible and differentiated brand assets available in the regenerative economy.
ETHER:Rewire Your Beliefs. Regenerate Your Finances.
Ether is the element that governs what cannot be seen but governs everything that can. Belief. Culture. Consciousness. The invisible architecture of how an organization understands itself, values its people, and relates to the world it operates within. In the RegeniThrive Formula, Ether is the most transformational element, not because it is the most complex, but because it is the most honest. It asks the question that no quarterly report has ever dared to ask: do the people inside this organization actually thrive?
The Difference Between Being an "Influencer" and Being Truly Influential
We live in an era that has confused influence with impact. Social media has created an entire economy built on the performance of authority, follower counts, engagement metrics, carefully curated personal brands that optimize for attention rather than transformation. A modern influencer is measured by how many people watch them. A truly influential leader is measured by how many people grow because of them. This distinction is the foundation of regenerative culture.
In a regenerative organization, every person who walks through the door, employee, contractor, supplier, customer, is recognized first for the value of who they are, then what they can do. This is not soft. This is not idealistic. This is the single most powerful lever for organizational performance that business science has identified, consistently, across decades of research. When people feel genuinely seen, valued, and safe to bring their full intelligence to their work, they innovate. They stay. They care about outcomes beyond their job description. They become, in the truest sense, influential; not because they are performing a role, but because they are expressing a Self.
The regenerative boardroom does not manage people. It cultivates them. It creates the conditions: psychological safety, meaningful autonomy, deep belonging, connection to a mission larger than profit. This is a culture where we as human beings naturally do our best work.
Just as healthy soil does not force a seed to grow but creates the conditions in which growth is inevitable, regenerative culture does not extract performance from people. It generates it.
When that belief system becomes the operating system of an organization, something extraordinary happens to the numbers as well.
Solution: Regenerative Business Culture + The Super Stack System
The belief system shift is not only the right thing to do. It is the prerequisite for accessing the most sophisticated and powerful financial architecture available to forward-thinking businesses today (according to my 5 chat bots), what I call the Super Stack.
The Super Stack is my alchemical process for layering a regenerative business structure, tax credits/rebates, grant funding, blockchain technology, and aligned impact capital into a single cohesive financial soup! (Yes, I’m also a Chef) So rather than chasing money reactively, Super Stack businesses are built from the inside out in order to be magnetically attractive and qualify for every available stream of regenerative capital simultaneously. This is literally the first time in history that we’ve have the ability to do this!
Consider a mid-size organic farm operation in the American Midwest that restructures as a Social Purpose Corporation, implements a regenerative soil program, and in doing so unlocks the new USDA cost-share grants, qualifies for carbon credit generation through a verified sequestration protocol. They are also now eligible for a regenerative agriculture impact fund that had been closed to them under their previous structure. Their cost of capital drops, their land value increases, and a premium by a family office invests in the farm because they have been specifically seeking verified regenerative agriculture assets for their impact portfolio. All because they were properly designed and aligned to receive it.
Now Imagine a community development company that layers a DOE clean energy grant with an EPA Brownfields remediation grant with an HUD community development block grant, three separate federal programs. Each funding a distinct phase of a single regenerative mixed-use development, while a mission-aligned real estate impact fund provides the equity layer that ties it all together. The developer retains majority ownership and emerges from the project with a track record that opens the next one at a larger scale.
These are not windfalls. They are the natural result of building a business that the regenerative economy was designed to reward. The Super Stack is the system that ensures you are built to receive what is already waiting for you.
People: Research by Gallup consistently demonstrates that highly engaged workplaces produce 23 percent higher profitability, 18 percent higher productivity, and 81 percent lower absenteeism than disengaged counterparts. The regenerative organization does not spend its energy managing performance out of reluctant employees. It spends it creating conditions in which willing, whole, genuinely valued human beings naturally bring their full intelligence to a mission they believe in.
Planet: Businesses rooted in regenerative culture and economy principles, architect their operations to generate net positive environmental outcomes as a structural feature of how they function. The circular economy model, in which every output from one process becomes the input for another, mirrors Nature’s own closed-loop systems with extraordinary precision. When aligned finance flows into regenerative enterprises, capital becomes a force for ecological restoration at scale.
Profit: The Super Stack, fully implemented, creates a multi-layered financial architecture that funds regenerative business growth through grants, tax optimization, blockchain-enabled instruments, and aligned impact capital, reducing dependence on conventional debt financing, preserving equity, and attracting investors whose values align with the mission rather than competing with it.
The Boardroom of the Future Is Already Here
You can start with just one element, one upgrade, one micro improvement at a time and each one will create greater and greater ripples of impact, the true R.O.I.!
These five elements are not separate initiatives to add to an already overwhelmed business. They are one formula, a living, reciprocal ecosystem model that, like Nature, becomes more powerful the more interconnected its components are. Earth feeds Water. Fire powers Air. Ether unifies them all.
The businesses that will define the next century are not the ones with the biggest marketing budgets or the most aggressive growth strategies. They are the ones with the greatest positive impact to humanity and our Planet.
Humanity thriving in harmony with Nature is not a dream. It is a design. And it is available for your business right now.
